Welcome to Mrs. Gulley's Art class!

My name is Jessica Gulley and I am thrilled to be teaching art this year at both Chuckey and Doak Elementary Schools! I am a first-year teacher with a Masters in Elementary Education, K-5 from Lincoln Memorial University and a Bachelors in Theatre from the University of Tennessee. When not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband Matt, my family, and my three cats.

Art has always been a passion of mine and I am so excited for the opportunity to help my students explore their creativity, think critically, and explore the world of art.

In art class, we will focus on four major domains.
  • Create: Generating, organizing, developing, and refining artistic ideas.
  • Present: Selecting work to present and conveying and expressing meaning through the presentation of artistic work.
  • Respond: Analyzing and interpreting meaning, symbolism, and intent in artistic work. Also evaluating artistic work on given criteria.
  • Connect: Relating knowledge and personal endeavors to artistic work and relating artistic ideas and work with societal, cultural, and historical context.

These are skills are aligned with the TN Ready Fine Arts Standards. All assignments and activities will be designed to help us grow in all four of the categories.

Our class will follow three simple rules to help us work well together in class or virtually.
